My artwork captures different amazing things found in our beautiful country. Belize is home to various cultures, and even though we have diverse beliefs and practices, our respect for one another allows us to live peacefully together. On the right of my artwork, you can see parts representing our governing body which strives for justice and truth. Our Prime Minister, Hon. John Briceno, plays an important role as he is the head of the government and the one whose goal is to make Belize a safe place for all its citizens. The bottom shows a fisherman; he symbolizes our remarkable marine life. Our country is protected from major storms by the second largest barrier reef. Finally, the bubble shows a gorgeous woman representing carnival in Belize, which is a grand celebration. It is important that we all celebrate and appreciate the amazing things of Belize.

Belize is a Caribbean paradise in Central America. A place where mother nature bestows all her artistic dust and offers the possibility to enjoy and travel to varied, exotic places along with the opportunity to have an unforgettable experience. There are many activities to do in Belize. The chance to see our national animals and other wildlife, the chance to explore the Great Blue Hole, or the magnificent Maya Ruins. Insects and birds of every kind can be found in Belize, a beautiful country.

The amazing thing about Belize is the diverse culture. I focus on the four main ones: Mayas, Creole, Garifuna, and Mestizo. The heart of the artwork shows our Belizean Flag and map representing UNITY and shows that each district is populated with different cultures. We are unique and respectful. English is the main language, along with other beautiful dialects that are spoken. The cultural outfits are proudly worn. Each cultural instrument gives its beautiful melody. Every Belizean share the taste of the rich cultural food. The Mayas are rich in history with their ancient temples and their beliefs. The Garifuna flag, which portrays their struggles, the folktales from the Creole, and the escabeche scent cooking in the beautiful Mestizo’s thatch homes make Belize unique. In conclusion, every ethnic group takes pride in loving each other, keeping the tradition alive and protecting their environment.

Many tourists flock to our shores to explore and experience our beautiful Belize. As Belizeans, it is important that we recognise all that our country has to offer. I believe there is not just one amazing thing about Belize but rather many amazing things that we are blessed to enjoy.

The different animals that surround us and the colourful flora that we are working so hard to preserve are all important to the survival of our country. As we dive into the waters, we can see the many amazing sea creatures, the corals, and all the hidden treasures that lie beneath the sea.

It is not only the flora and fauna that make our country amazing; our National Flag that flies so high showcases our past and brings hope for our future. Each of the amazing things found in our country comes alive because of the hardworking men and women of different cultures that add to the rich diversity that makes Belize an amazing place to call home.

The amazing thing about Belize is its diversity. Belize is blended with various cultures and ethnic groups, examples are Creole, Maya, Garifuna, Mennonites, and Mestizo. The drums represent the Garifuna’s culture. Their music and dance are a connection to their ancestry. Secondly, Belize offers diverse tourist attractions like the Maya Ruins and the beautiful corals. The Baron Bliss Lighthouse is a fascinating place to visit. It was built in remembrance of Henry Edward Bliss. A fisherman that left his fortune to the citizens of Belize. 1981 is a memorable year to remember as it is when Belize got its Independence. The Jaguar illustrates the Cockscomb Basin Forest Preserve, a park built to protect the Jaguar. It is the world’s only Jaguar Preservation. The Toucan, Black Orchid and flag represent some of the National Symbols of Belize. Sugar cane and bananas are some of the country’s main exports. All this diversity makes Belize the Jewel of the Caribbean!

The amazing thing about Belize is the people, culture, and talent found in Belize. This is what my art piece is about. I painted a man playing the drums and a woman using maracas to represent talent and culture. The woman cooking represents the delicious food that is found all over the country. The maypole represents tradition and community, showing that Belizeans of all cultures, talents, and backgrounds can come together. The people holding hands and the woman clapping represent the people supporting each other and contributing toward a better Belize. I am proud to call Belize my home, and I truly believe that all the other people who call Belize home are what makes Belize so amazing.

Belize is the only Central American Country that speaks English. Belize is full of diverse cultures, unified with memorable traditions such as incomparable dishes. Our country is dressed in its beautiful, exotic flora and fauna, evergreen mangroves, pristine waters, and with breath-taking Maya Ruins. Belize has beautiful waterfalls, the second largest Barrier Reef in the world, and a mysterious blue hole. Our national animals and symbols include the colourful Toucan Bird, the tall Mahogany Tree, beautiful Orchid, lovely Tapir, and the splendorous Flag of Belize.

The amazing things about Belize are its friendly people, its amazing Great Barrier Reef, its Ancient Maya Empire, its Jaguar preserve, and it is home to the great Blue Hole. Our beautiful Belize has a diverse society that is composed of many cultures and languages that mirrors its rich and unique history. Belize is amazing because it is the only Central American country where English is the official language, but Belizean Creole is the dialect mostly spoken. I believe that Belize is amazing because of its Great Barrier Reef, and Belize is also home to the great Blue Hole that attracts swimmers, snorkelers, and scuba divers. These and the unspoiled beaches that our beautiful country has makes Belize authentic and attracts more and more tourist. Jaguars live in our amazing, lush jungles that hide the secrets of the ancient Maya empire, such as Xunantunich, Altun Ha, and Lamanai, to name a few. This and more are what makes Belize one of the most beautiful, enigmatic, and amazing countries in the world.

In my perspective, the amazing thing about Belize is that we Belizeans are welcoming and show hospitality to everyone; no matter the community or country you come from, your ethnicity, your skin tone, or your race! We care more about WHO you are as a person than where you come from. Belize is a melting pot, with different ‘seasonings’ blending into it. Everyone enjoys our country just as much as we do. In this illustration, the children look different to show this same concept – rich, poor, black, white, and mixed. They are united with welcoming smiles, innocence, openness, and familiarity. These components show that the community is home. A home is a place where you feel safe, where you can be safe, make memories and feel welcomed. Children generally do not regard skin tone or your origin as a factor for friendship, they care more about having fun and enjoying your company as a person.

One of the amazing things about Belize is the Maya civilization. I fell in love with the artefacts that the Mayas created a very long time ago, for example, the Jade Head. There are many fascinating structures built by them, like their temples and a calendar that rotates like a cogwheel that spins the different cycles of life. Maya is not all about beauty and civilization, but also peace and love. We can protect this beautiful heritage through storytelling and artworks illustrating the different aspects of the Maya Culture.

I think that the amazing things about Belize are its cultural diversity and our rainforest. Belize is blessed to have many natural wonders, and our people are very loving. I am glad that we do not face situations like in other countries where we may have people divided because of their ethnicity. We celebrate and support each other, and our political leaders actively work to ensure that opportunities for self-growth are given to all Belizeans. I am extremely grateful that efforts are being made to educate our youth on how we can be environmentally friendly to preserve our Belize.

My artwork reflects and shows my love and care for my beautiful country Belize and its biodiversity of magnificent flora and fauna. Biodiversity speaks about all the different kinds of living organisms within a specific area, which includes beautiful plants, amazing animals, and other living things. Biodiversity is extremely vital to me because it supports every living creature on earth, including human life. Without biodiversity, we would not have a healthy flow of flora and fauna in their ecosystems to sustain the environment and human life. We need plants for animals and humans to breathe and for food to eat. Our flora and fauna are very attractive and bring millions of tourists to our country, which helps to build and grow Belize’s economy.

The amazing thing in Belize is the Belize Barrier Reef. It is the second largest coral reef system in the world and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. It is truly one of the great natural wonders of the world. The Belize Barrier Reef is home to one of the most abundant and diverse marine ecosystems found anywhere on the planet. It is one of the most sought after tourist destinations for recreational activities such as diving, snorkelling, sailing, and fishing.

I am honoured to be a born Belizean and to witness this unique and magnificent experience my home provides. I stand tall and proud of the Barrier Reef. Belize is where my heart and soul belong.
